Mary Mcleod Bethune
During the years following the civil war in rural SC where opportunities for blacks to go to school were nonexistent, McLeod had to overcome many obstacles to pursue her dream of education. For all children, McLeod was born in Mayesville, SC in 1875. She was an educator, philanthropist ,humanitarian and Civil Rights advocate.
